(EVENT) Research and Innovation for Climate Neutrality: The Case of Small Islands

How can small islands achieve carbon neutrality? Dive into the cases of Cyprus and Malta in the discussion featuring Alexandros Charalambides, Associate Professor, Sustainable Energy Laboratory, Cyprus University of Technology, moderated by Tatiana Mitrova, NEAH Founder and Director.

Much of the existing research on carbon neutrality focuses on medium- or large-sized countries. Small islands need different solutions. These regions often face unique challenges, such as limited resources, higher dependency on imported energy, and vulnerability to climate change impacts. However, they also have unique opportunities, such as the potential for localised renewable energy projects and innovative community-led initiatives.
