ONGOING PROJECTS

MICIE

The  Mediterranean Island Cleantech Innovation Ecosystem (MICIE) aims to strengthen the contribution of research and innovation (R&I) in achieving the climate and energy targets of Cyprus and Malta as defined in their National Energy and Climate Plans.

MICIE will achieve this by forging links across and within the two R&I ecosystems, leveraging each country’s strengths, and developing synergies to address challenges -ultimately catalysing the development of innovative climate technologies and business models.

INDUSAC

The aim of the project is to develop and validate a state-of-the-art Industry-Academia Collaboration mechanism for quick, challenge-driven, human-centered co-creation. The INDUSAC project designs a state-of-the-art mechanism for industry-academia collaboration that is based on human-centered design principles that enable quick project co-creation. At least 300 international co-creation projects are selected for implementation to ensure the validation of the mechanism.

These micro-projects led by teams consisting of students, researchers, and company staff cover various activities to target numerous industrial sectors. They are expected to create a bridge between business and academia. The INDUSAC project focuses on four areas: Circularity, General Sustainability, Digitalisation, and Industry.

TIMEPAC

Towards Innovative Methods for Energy Performance Assessment and Certification of Buildings (TIMEPAC) is a Horizon 2020 research project.

Europe’s building stock covers some 25 billion square metres of floor space, of which 75% is residential. Therefore retrofitting plays a major role in achieving the climate targets set for 2050. The ongoing revision of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) is therefore crucial for tackling climate change and energy poverty.

This is TIMEPAC’s starting point – turning goals into action by transforming the entire Energy Performance Certification (EPC) process.

ARSINOE

ARSINOE is an EU-funded project aimed at creating climate resilient-regions through systemic solutions and innovations. ARSINOE will shape the pathways to resilience by bringing together the Systems Innovation Approach (SIA) and the Climate Innovation Window (CIW) to build an ecosystem for climate change adaptation solutions. This approach is showcased in nine demonstrators, as a proof-of-concept with regards to its applicability, replicability, potential and efficacy.
